I haven’t used my garage keypad code for a while because I forgot the code and didn’t have time to figure out how to reset it. Finally I decided to call the “garage door people” so they could come out and work their magic. Since its 2011 I should at least be caught up technologically with the neighbors by getting this working again.
When he arrived I thought he looked familiar. “Have you been here before?” I asked.
He said, “Yes, I was here 2 years ago working on your garage door.”
I said, “Thats right! I remember now. Aren’t you a Jehovah Witness?”
He said, “Yes, remember, we talked about that the last time I was here.”
Yes I remember now. I witnessed to him 2 years ago using the Law. I asked him if he has ever lied, stolen, blasphemed, lusted and he admitted he did. He said Jesus was his savior but he also adds works to his salvation, which is not salvation at all.
I asked him if he believed Jesus was God Himself and he said no, “Jesus was created by Jehovah God.”
I asked him if Jesus is not God why did Isaiah say Jesus was the “mighty God” and the “everlasting Father?”
Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a child is born , unto us a son is given : and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor , The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Why does Jesus Himself say in Revelation He is the “Almighty?”
Revelation 1:8 NKJV
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
I asked him, “Jehovah is the only one who is worthy to be worshiped right?” He said, “Yes.”
“Why did people worship Jesus in the bible if Jehovah is the only one worthy of worship? Doesn’t this mean Jesus IS Jehovah? Jesus didn’t tell them to stop doing this, He encouraged it.”
I then told him there are many verses describing Jehovah’s attributes and these same attributes are the same ones Jesus is described as having.
You could tell he was thinking about what I was saying. Its always good to use the brain God gave you to reason through this.
I continued, “Jesus told the Pharisees they cannot go to heaven unless they believe He is who He claimed to be.”
John 8:24
24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
“This is serious. If I’m wrong its no big deal, Jesus is not God and it doesn’t affect my eternal destiny. But if you are wrong that WILL affect your eternal destiny.” He agreed.
I urged him to examine Isaiah and other verses which clearly indicate Jesus is God.
