It is with great sorrow and heaviness of heart that I write this book. It is my intention to give a sound, Biblical defense of the truth against the heresy of 5 point Calvinism. My prayer is that all who read this will fully and prayerfully consider what is being argued and will, with honesty of heart; study this issue out unto its fullest understanding. Set all the commentaries, books, ideas, and influences of all these teachers aside and take your Bible and get to where it is just you and the Lord when you study. I am convinced that you too will realize why it is a damnable heresy and should be done away with.
Some ask why write a book against Calvinism and others say that it is much needed. I guess I feel that it is out of necessity to write this book. With Biblical Christianity in America headed south and militant Calvinism on the rise, I feel it is of utter urgency that this book be written in hopes to turn Christians back to the truth of the Bible and restore the truth of the Gospel.
As many know, this is a very hotly debated topic and, as if I don’t already, will have many critics and even enemies by the completion of this book. Although this is not my intention, the truth of God will bring such dissension. Christ Himself said “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” (Matt 10:22) Most of the flack will not come from the world, but the “Church”. It seems today that when the truth is preached it is confused for hatred or divisiveness. This is proof that we are living in the end of days in fulfillment of that great passage in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 of the “falling away” of the faith.
My goal for this book is to first, educate, second, call to repentance those who have erred, and third, encourage those who rightly walk in the truth to separate for them who do not repent. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 commands us to. “Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.” This is a long forgotten doctrine that ties into holiness and needs to be addressed with fervor today.
To Whom Am I Addressing?
Let me say that there is utter confusion when it comes to this system of Theology. It seems that even 10 years ago Christians were more secure in what they believe than they are today. That is because of the decline in the preaching of true, Biblical Christianity and the rise of Calvinism and its introduction back into the “Church”. It has wreaked havoc on otherwise strong Christians. It has taken believers that were anchored in the Rock of Christ and turned their foundation to sand. Today, you will hear people that claim to be Calvinists that do not have the slightest idea of what this theory teaches. They hear of the T.U.L.I.P. And most agree with it at face value. If you ask most Christians if they believe in Total Depravity, they will say yes. Why? Because they think it is defined as man being born in sin, not total inability to repent and believe. This is the same with most of the other points also. If you are one of these, I pray you will spend time studying these doctrines, as all people should, to gain a better understanding of exactly what you are placing you trust in. When I mention the word Calvinist, I am talking about the (as one Calvinist puts it) fire-breathing, TULIP believing, five-point Calvinist. I’m talking about the Piper’s, Washer’s, and MacArthur’s. Mostly, I am meaning the teachers of theses doctrines.
